About Ji

Welcome to my world of art! I’m Ji Hyang Ryu, an award-winning visual artist, muralist, and art instructor proudly based in Riverview, New Brunswick, just minutes from Moncton. Recognized as one of the best visual artists in the Moncton area, I’ve spent over a decade creating vibrant, emotionally resonant artwork that connects nature, people, and place.

After seven years working at the Moncton Hospital, I made the leap to become a full-time artist in 2020. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to building a thriving art career rooted in creativity, storytelling, and community impact.

At my own Ji Hyang Ryu Art Studio & Gallery, I offer dynamic art classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults. I also accept a wide range of commissions, including murals, live art performances, and custom portrait paintings. My work has appeared in both public and private collections and has been featured in several exhibitions across the province.

My recent painting series, Whispers of the Wild, explores the delicate relationship between humanity and nature—common themes in much of my work. Whether I’m painting a massive community mural or a small still life, I aim to create pieces that evoke harmony, healing, and joy.

As an award-winning Moncton artist, I’m proud to have received multiple provincial and national art grants. My artwork has been acquired by the Canada Council for the Arts (2023) and Global Affairs Canada (2024) and featured by Global News (2020) and CBC Radio-Canada (2021). I’ve also represented New Brunswick in the Art Battle Canada National Championships and lead meaningful community mural projects such as the TransAqua mural.

When I’m not painting or teaching, I enjoy practicing pottery and spending time with my family. Every creation, from a painting to a ceramic bowl, reflects my passion for storytelling and appreciation of life’s beauty.
